Top club signs Super League target ending any chance of potential UK switch

The Canterbury Bulldogs have confirmed that fullback / centre Corey Allan had been released from the final year of his contract with the club.
In a statement on the club’s website, the Bulldogs said:
“Corey Allan has been released from the final year of his contract with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, effective immediately.
“We thank Corey for his two years of service to the Bulldogs and wish him all the best for the future.”
This immediately led to speculation that he could make the move to Super League.
The versatile outside back would be the ideal signing for Leigh Leopards following the loss of both Nene MacDonald to Leeds Rhinos and of course the release of Blake Ferguson on compassionate grounds which was yesterday confirmed by coach and former Wigan Warriors boss Adrian Lam.
Allan had previously been chased by several Super League clubs in 2022 during mid-season though a move never happened despite it coming close during the Magic Round so has been a Super League target for seven months.
However, if Leigh or indeed a club like Catalans Dragons wanted to make a move for Allan they have been beaten to the punch already it seems with the Daily Telegraph reporting that the Roosters have already swooped in and signed him to a one-year deal.
So at this point there will be no move Allan.
