Top club make coaching decision as former Fev boss set to miss out

St George Illawarra Dragons assistant coach Ryan Carr recently assumed the interim coaching duties of the NRL side from while the club board and management began assessing their head coaching candidates for the 2024 season.

This came after the club parted company with coach Anthony Griffin.

“These decisions are never taken lightly and on behalf of the club I want to thank Anthony for all his hard work during his time at the Dragons,” CEO Ryan Webb said.

“Unfortunately our performances over the first 10 games of this season have not met the club’s expectations so it was decided he should finish up his duties this week.”

Carr has done a terrific job so far but he is set to miss out on the permanent role with the Sydney Morning Herald and Zero Tackle reporting that the job will go to Jason Ryles.

Carr did a brilliant job in the UK with Featherstone Rovers in the past and also worked for the Leeds Rhinos during his time with the Rovers.

It was believed that when Leeds were looking to replace Richard Agar last year, Carr was on their radar but in the end it is Rohan Smith who took the reigns,
