A lot of questions have been thrown the way of Hull FC this season.

This was especially because of their seven game losing run which they finally snapped against Huddersfield Giants before the international break which now opens up a six point gap between them and relegation trouble at the foot of the table.

Coach Tony Smith has now spoken on Sky Sports about their difficult start to the season and rubbished the suggestion that there has been a lack of effort underpinning their struggles this season.

“It was a significant performance on that day but we need to improve,” Smith said of the win over Huddersfield Giants.

“Even when we got a couple of wins earlier in the year we needed to improve otherwise we will not be able to compete with the top teams on a regular basis and become a consistently well performing team.

“We made some in roads there, it isn’t a lack of effort and never has been. We need that cohesion.”

He then added at the end a call to fans to “Stick with us.”

It is a huge test for his side this week as they take on league leaders Wigan Warriors who had six players involved in England’s 64-0 win over France including try scorers Harry Smith, Jake Wardle and Ethan Havard.
