Tony Smith leaves out star winger for clash against St Helens

Hull FC Head Coach Tony Smith

Tony Smith has named his side to try and defeat Champions St Helens.

Both sides come into the game after back to back defeats but for Hull FC it was a particularly painful loss as they went down 60-14 to Salford Red Devils last week at home.

Smith will be hoping to bounce back despite the continued absence of centres Carlos Tuimavave and Liam Sutcliffe which sees Josh Griffin and Cameron Scott start in the centres instead.

Meanwhile, Davy Litten is included on the wing ahead of Darnell McIntosh who is left out of the side.

McIntosh was in the 21-man squad.

With Ben McNamara still absent and Jake Trueman also recovering from injury Joe Lovodua starts in the halves with Danny Houghton at nine and Brad Dwyer on the bench.

As for St Helens they are still without Konrad Hurrell and Sione Mata’utia through bans so Ben Davies starts at centre.

Curtis Sironen is back and starts in the backrow with James Bell.

Alex Walmsley returns to the starting 13 after being dropped to the bench last week.

The Champions have Joey Lussick, Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Agnatius Paasi and Jake Wingfield amongst the subs.

The Saints have surprisingly lost the last two and will therefore be looking to get back to winning ways after shock losses to Leeds Rhinos and Leigh Leopards.

Hull FC also need a reaction and coach Smith has said that they should have the “fear of God” in them.
