Tony Smith confirms he wants to keep prop despite interest from rival clubs

Hull FC coach Tony Smith

It has been reported that Hull FC star Chris Satae is set to consider offers from other clubs.

However, Hull FC boss Tony Smith has confirmed that he wants the impressive prop to stay but only if it is for the right reasons.

He explained this on BBC Humberside: “Yeah we would love for Chris to be here. Hopefully he will come up with that decision.

“It is each individual player’s right to look around and assess things and make the right call and I encourage them to.

“I only want people who really want to be here and Chris does this year but whether he wants to be here next year is his call and his family’s call.

“It is not straight forward and it is not easy.”

He explained that players and coaches have to look forward to the future in making these calls:

“Players have to make forecasts and so do I. We have to try and look in the future to make sure we are on the main track.

“I want players to make sure that when they decide to stay here it is for the right reasons.

“I’d love for him to be here, he is in great shape and he has worked hard. It attracts attention from other clubs.”
