Tony Clubb “welcomed back with open arms” as he prepares for first game since receiving eight-match ban

Wigan’s Tony Clubb hasn’t played since May, having received an eight-match ban back for using ‘unacceptable language based on national or ethnic origin’ against Hull FC’s Andre Savelio in May this year.

But, head coach Adrian Lam is ready to put Clubb straight back into contention for Wigan’s fixture against Huddersfield on Sunday.

“He’s a senior member of our squad and we’ve missed that,” Lam said.

Even though we do have players out injured, it’s the seniority I feel that has hurt us the most.

“He’s going to be welcomed back with open arms – he understands what has transpired at the start of the year and getting into this position.

“We’ve all moved forward as a group and a club and we’re looking forward to him playing with us again and bringing that experience with us.”
