Tommy Mak signs new deal at Saints

St Helens star Tommy Makinson has signed a new 4 year deal with the club to end speculation of a move to the NRL .

Makinson won the Golden boot after a string of fine performances for England in 2018 and was sought after by a number of clubs Down Under but has opted to stay in England and help his club try to break their recent semi final curse ( Saints lost both major semi finals last year ).

The 27 year old will play his 200th game for Saints in the derby against Wigan but had expressed interest in testing himself in the NRL but has instead opted to stay at the Totally Wicked Stadium .

Speaking of his delight at the signing Saints Chairman Eamonn Mcmanus said :

“Tommy has been underestimated outside of St Helens for too many years . That was firmly put to bed with his recent stand out performances for England against the Kiwis. He has chosen St Helens and Super League despite very attractive offers from the NRL . It’s therefore a real statement of his faith in St Helens and in Super League that he has decided to extend his contract with us.”

Makinson will be hoping to add to the one Grand final winners medal he has , picked up in the 2014 Grand Final against Wigan .
