Tomkins Man of Steel odds slashed in wide open market

Sam Tomkins has had his Man of Steel odds slashed from 16/1 to 5/1 after his man of the match performance against Wakefield on Saturday.

Sporting Index make the Catalans full-back fourth favourite to claim the award he won as a Wigan player eight years ago, with the Dragons looking like strong contenders for silverware in 2020.

Tomkins has excelled for Steve McNamara’s men this season and his first performance since the restart certainly caught the eye of the bookies.

Huddersfield’s Aidan Sezer remains favourite for the award (7/2), with Wigan flyer Bevan French (4/1) and Castleford hooker Paul McShane (9/2) making up the top three.

St Helens duo Jonny Lomax (15/2) and Alex Walmlsey (8/1) look good value, as does Wigan back-rower Liam Farrell (10/1).

Blake Austin (12/1), last year’s winner Jackson Hastings (14/1) and Lachlan Coote (25/1) make up the top 10.

Of the other names on the list, Tomkins’ teammates Israel Folau (66/1) and James Maloney (200/1) are handed very big odds and could be worth a punt given Catalans’ impressive form.
