Tomkins given Wembley boost

Wigan Warriors forward Joel Tomkins will be available for next weekend’s Challenge Cup final against Hull FC after returning to full training.

Tomkins was injured in the semi-final win over Salford and has been out of action for the past two weeks.

Wigan coach Shaun Wane is sceptical about Tomkins’ return for the upcoming game with the Red Devils but the forward will be putting his hand up for a place in the team at Wembley.

“I don’t think he’ll be fit for Salford but he should be okay for the following week.” Wane told Wigan Today.

It’s an interesting situation for coach Wane as players will be hoping to impress against Salford in hope of pulling on the Cherry and White jersey at Wembley the following week.

Tomkins is one of the most experienced players in the squad and he could be vital for Wigan against Hull. His long-range try in the 2011 final has gone down as one of the best tries in recent years.

Do you think he’ll get the nod to feature in the final?
