Tomkins ban confirmed

Luke Gale #7 of Leeds Rhinos tries to calm a scuffle between team mate Richie Myler #16 of Leeds Rhinos and Benjamin Julien #17 of Catalans Dragons

Catalans Dragons forward Joel Tomkins has been given an eight-match ban after being found guilty of Other Contrary Behaviour against Leeds last Friday.

Tomkins was put on report for an incident involving Leeds utility back Richie Myler.

Following deliberation, an independent tribunal found him guilty of the Grade F charge, banning him for eight games as well as fining him £500.

He will now miss the Dragons’ play-off semi-final against St Helens on Friday, and will also be absent should they reach the Grand Final.

The ban will then carry over to the 2021 season, meaning he will also miss the first six or seven games.

The Dragons will now be without two senior players for Friday’s game, after hooker Michael McIlorum was banned for six games for two separate offences against the Rhinos.
