Johnstone out for the season

Tom Johnstone injury

Wakefield Trinity have suffered a huge injury blow with the news that Tom Johnstone will miss the remainder of the 2017 season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

The reigning Super League Young Player of the Year left the pitch during Sunday’s clash against Catalans Dragons and has since seen a specialist who confirmed the club’s worst fears.

Johnstone now faces between six and eight months out meaning he will miss the rest of the season, including a potential end-of-year World Cup.

“I went for a scan and the results show that I’ve ruptured my ACL,” Johnstone told the club’s website.

“The amount of pain I was in, I thought it wouldn’t be good but that’s the way it goes. I have had a lot of messages from all the boys and I’m confident and positive to come back bigger and better.”
