Tom Johnstone gives cryptic opinion on Wakefield Trinity’s change of coach

Tom Johnstone has provided an update on his social media after Wakefield Trinity returned to pre-season training ahead of a new era in 2022.

Johnstone has been handed the number 2 jersey yet again under new head coach Willie Poching following Chris Chester’s sacking last season.

Trinity had won just four games under Chester by the time of his sacking, whilst Poching managed to inspire his players to five wins from their final seven games.

Chester has since gone to become head of rugby at the Leigh Centurions, with Poching taking the reins permanently at the Mobile Rocket Stadium.

Johnstone said: “All smiles this year! Putting in the work ✊🏻 Yes I spend my entire working day joined at the hip to @maxxjow

It appears as though Johnstone is loving his new lease of life under Poching which is unsurprising considering that he told Serious About Rugby League a fortnight ago, that Wakefield was “just a happier place to be.”

“Willie Poching is getting the best out of the lads by making it an enjoyable environment,” Johnstone said.

“He is someone you want to work for so I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”
