Title contenders? – Huddersfield Giants’ New Year’s Resolution

The new year is just days away and with it will come a new Super League season just seven weeks into the beginning of the latest chapter of human history.

A new year is a time when everyone looks to make a new start and make a change as they begin a new year.

This is why we get New Year’s Resolutions every year from so many people.

This desire for a new start shouldn’t be restricted to people though and could very well apply to Super League clubs.

So, what should Huddersfield Giants’ resolution be going into 2023?

It’s simple, they need to win a major final.

The Giants have only won one trophy in the summer era in the shape of the League Leaders’ Shield in 2013 under Paul Anderson.

A decade later, they simply need a trophy to go with their growing stature. Ian Watson has developed a superb squad with plenty of depth and serial winners within it including former St Helens duo Kevin Naiqama and Theo Fages.

Meanwhile, they have one of the best packs in Super League and last year were in some ways the statistical best side in the league.

They enjoyed the most attacking possession in the league and forced the most drop outs in the league too.

Now with attacking weapon in ex-Hull FC Jake Connor, they have a star man to turn that possession into points.

With all of this, this needs to be Huddersfield’s best and biggest year in Super League.
