Tim Lafai picks out the two most difficult opponents he’s faced this year including “special” Leeds Rhinos man

This morning, Tim Lafai was rightly named in the Super League Dream Team in his debut season in the competition.

He was ripped things up for Salford becoming one of the most dangerous players in the competition routinely creating and scoring tries bouncing off tackles which has been complimented by his top tier offload game.

Lafai was picked alongside Salford teammates Ken Sio and Brodie Croft in the Dream Team and was joined by Hull KR’s Shaun Kenny-Dowall in the centres and Lafai spoke fondly about SKD at today’s Dream Team reveal noting he was glad that he didn’t have to come up against him with them both being left centres.

This led to a conversation around which centres in Super League he has had a tough assignment against and he spoke about two in particular from Huddersfield and Leeds: “There’s been a few centres fortunately Shaun Kenny-Dowall on the other side. Leroy Cudjoe is a great centre, someone who always keeps me on my toes and the young one at Leeds, Harry Newman.

“I see a lot of a young me in him. He’s going to be something special.”

Both men did cause Lafai problems recently. Newman scored a lovely try after being held back by Lafai in the build up at Headingley whilst Leroy Cudjoe helped create a lovely try for Huddersfield when they lost to Lafai’s Salford.

However, Lafai gave as good as he got in those games with some terrific involvements in tries and a try itself against the Giants.
