The super 8 gets under way on Friday with probably the most significant fixture of the whole of the league .
With the top 4 all but decided ,saints clear at the top and Warrington likely to utilise their squad with a Wembley appearance in 2 weeks the only real issue to be decided is who takes 2nd spot and a home semi final .
Wigan and Castleford look likely to be in a 7 week fight for 2nd place and they clash on Friday night rugby at the DW .
It’s a crucial game ,a win for the Tigers would put them in 2nd spot and with 4 of their last 6 at home in pole position for a home semi final .
Wigan though only lost to saints at home all of the regular season and comfortably beat Cas at home in May ,
The bookies make Wigan 1/2 favourites to win this one and I think they’ll just get home , the Tigers record at Wigan is nearly as bad as Wigan’s at Cas and you can add to that the Warriors good home record .
Castleford have largely gone under the radar this year and Daryl Powell has done a great job keeping them in sight of 2nd with some bad luck with injuries .
That said there should be a good atmosphere at the DW with the ,somewhat bizarre , news about Shaun Edwards return and they look like they can win this by 6-10 points .
Shaun Wane’s side struggled to beat 12 man Catalans 2 weeks ago but they should.benefit from a week off .
The handicap line is around a 6 point start for the visitors which looks about right , if pushed would just fancy Wigan to cover it .
Given their poor record at the DW I’d want more than the 2/1 for an away win but you certainly can’t rule it out .
Marshall heads the 1st try market at 9/1 , but James Clare looks the value at 16/1 .
Bateman at 12/1 has to be in the running for man of the match given the news of his departure and McShane looks good value at 16/1 if you can ignore the crazy way Sky pick it .
More super 8 action next week , as always please gamble responsibly
