Further to the double signing of Brenden Santi and Reece Dean, Newcastle Thunder have now brought in young forward Jake Lightowler.
The 20-year-old has spent the past three years as part of the Bradford academy but will now move to the North East after starting a degree at Northumbria University.
He has been training with the club during pre-season, impressing Thunder coaches enough to be offered a first team contract.
“We invited Jake down to train with us and he has been excellent since he has been with us,” head coach Simon Finnigan told the Thunder website. “I’ve liked what I’ve seen, I think he will add to us and it made sense to add him to our squad.”
