Everyone loves an underdog and in May 1998 we witnessed one of the greatest sporting upsets of all-time

Wigan were renowned as the ultimate Challenge Cup specialists but they had gone two years without lifting the famous trophy.

As they headed into the final as huge favourites, boasting the likes of Kris Radlinski, Jason Robinson and Andy Farrell, the pressure was on the Warriors.

Surprise finalists Sheffield were coached by John Kear and although their run to the final had been impressive, few could see anything other than a Wigan rout.

Watch below as the Eagles produce the biggest upset in the Challenge Cup’s illustrious history.
