Two Super League stars linked with huge NRL moves

Halfbacks are the core of a team and often the bedrock where success is built upon as we have seen throughout Super League history with Leeds Rhinos and their golden generation built on the back of Kevin Sinfield, Danny McGuire and Rob Burrow, or Wigan Warriors being led by Thomas Leuluai or in recent times we have seen Jonny Lomax provide the backbone of St Helens’ success.

Halfbacks therefore are often the focus of recruitment and retention and that is the case again this year.

Blake Austin, Jake Clifford at Hull FC and Lachlan Lam at Leigh Leopards are all involved in the rumour mill and clubs like Leeds, Wigan and Catalans Dragons are all pursuing halfbacks for next year and that list could be added to.

Meanwhile, in the NRL, there is a club desperately searching for number seven in 2024 and have turned their attention to Super League.

That of course is Wests who have lost Luke Brooks to Manly Sea Eagles after interest from Leeds.

Now two Super League stars have been linked with the NRL club.

Aidan Sezer – Leeds Rhinos
Leeds Live reported that the Leeds star is headed back home in 2024 and he has his heart set on playing still. There has been a suggestion that the Rhinos halfback is an option for the Wests Tigers after his playing days with the Canberra Raiders and Gold Coast Titans.

Brodie Croft – Salford Red Devils
Despite signing a mammoth contract to stay at Salford Red Devils, Wests Tigers have registered an interest in the halfback and are considering triggering the reported NRL clause in his contract.

Jake Clifford at Hull FC was also linked with the move with Wests, even though North Queensland Cowboys are an interested party, were also interested in the Super League star considering him alongside former Huddersfield Giants star Jack Cogger as well. He would have been the ideal signing for the club ahead of 2024 but the Cowboys have beaten Wests to him despite Hull FC and their determination to keep him.

Wests have also been linked with George Williams at Warrington, Lewis Dodd at St Helens and Mitchell Pearce.
