Three Super League players set to be chased by NRL club

NRL clubs, in particular the Wests Tigers, are set to move for three Super League halfbacks.

The Tigers have been on look out for a number seven after Tim Sheens was left unconvinced by Luke Brooks at seven with Leeds Rhinos reportedly interested in the halfback.

They have contacted Mitchell Pearce of Catalans Dragons meanwhile Warrington Wolves star George Williams is another target with the halfback admitting he will see out his contract at the club but wouldn’t “write off” a move back to the NRL.

The other halfback NRL clubs are keeping track of is St Helens star Lewis Dodd.

This is according to Brent Read speaking on Triple M Radio:

“Mitch is in a situation where he could come back to the NRL…people always thought that he’d come back here and have a swansong,” Read said.

“There are not a lot of good halves on the market at the end of the year.

“Beyond next year though, there are a couple of good English halfbacks off contract at the same time in George Williams and Lewis Dodd and they are logical targets.

“The Tigers have already been linked with Williams. The Lewis Dodd connection will be made at some point.

“The Tigers may just need to get through next year and then look to England for a decent option, so Pearcey would be a bridging option for them at halfback for 12 months until then.”
