Three signings Super League club could make to fix problem position

There are a number of clubs who could make further signings ahead of 2023.

“The plan” at Leigh Leopards is to make further signings according to owner Derek Beaumont as he also revealed they wanted a middle forward whilst a back seems like a wise investment after the loss of Blake Ferguson on compassionate grounds and Nene MacDonald’s move to Leeds Rhinos.

Salford Red Devils also have a quota spot they could use but the club who really do need signings is Catalans Dragons.

They need a centre after letting Samisoni Langi join Wakefield Trinity and Dean Whare head to the Elite One Championship but they also need a prop after allowing Dylan Napa to leave and missing out on former Warrington Wolves man Ben Murdoch-Masila.

So, here are three centres who they could sign to solve their problem.

Marty Taupau
When the NRL salary cap was unclear, there was a real chance that Taupau could come over to Super League to provide himself some security as speculation mounted over when the cap would be confirmed allowing him to make his next move. So, when the cap was confirmed, it seemed any chance of a move was all but over. That was until the Player Association (RLPA) told players to avoid signing new deals as of yet, again opening the door for the Dragons to sign him.

Ava Seumanufagai
A former Leeds Rhinos player and Challenge Cup winner, when he left Canterbury Bulldogs it was initially reported that he was set to return to Super League. This was two months ago but the Dragons, in need of a prop, could try and tempt him back.

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves
It was reported last night by Rugby League Live that Leigh Leopards are interested in making a move for the big prop and former NRL winner. However, the Dragons were the first club interested and therefore could swoop back in because of this news.
