Three short-term centre replacements for Castleford Tigers’ Jake Mamo

With Castleford Tigers’ Jake Mamo heading back to Australia on compassionate leave, there is a void to fill in the right centre for Lee Radford’s side.

With Jordan Turner already out with a serious injury, it remains to be seen who will fill in for Mamo whilst he has gone, with Mahe Fonua entrenched on the left hand side.

But, who may got the nod from Radford?

Sosaia Feki

He has yet to play a game in Super League for Castleford despite being at the Jungle for three years, but could Radford throw Sosaia Feki into the mix at the deep end? Known to be able to play either centre or wing, the former Cronulla Sharks Premiership winner would be a formidable swap for Mamo. And, it would finally give Castleford fans the sighting of Feki in a competitive match down at the Jungle.

Bureta Faraimo

It remains to be seen how far away he is from full fitness, but Bureta Faraimo was given a six to eight week deadline back in mid-April which could certainly be within the USA international’s time range. Not known to play too much in the centres, Faraimo could do a job for a couple of weeks with Mamo not in the side. It would also give the Tigers some much needed energy coming out of defence and some strong running with the ball out wide.

Cheyse Blair

He came on for Mamo in Castleford’s dismal loss against Salford Red Devils almost a fortnight ago, but Cheyse Blair’s cameo wasn’t too successful. Known to be leaving the club at the end of the year, could Blair be the man to fix things short-term? He has played there before for Melbourne Storm as well as Castleford so his understanding of what it takes to be a centre is convincing.
