Right now there are plenty of high profile players looking for a club including Brad Takairangi.
A hero the Hull KR side who finished sixth in 2021 and made the semi-finals, Takairangi has had a difficult 2022 with injuries and the like and is looking for a new club after captaining the Cook Islands in the World Cup hoping to put himself in the “shop window” as he said himself this week.
But where to next for the versatile former Robin?
Salford Red Devils
It’s been reported this week that Salford are interested in Leigh Leopards forward Sam Stone as they look to use their last quota spot. However, should this deal fall through, Takairangi would be an ideal signing especially due to his versatility which would allow him to cover plenty of key positions.
Catalans Dragons
The Dragons are in the market for a centre and have quota space, especially if Josh Drinkwater and Dylan Napa leave, this would again make Takairangi a great signing. He has perhaps played his best rugby in England at centre doing so last season at Craven Park.
Wakefield Trinity
If any club has cap and quota space it’s Wakefield Trinity and Brad Takairangi due to his size, skill and versatility would be the ideal recruit at Belle Vue. They seem set to use some of the cap space on Kevin Proctor who is expected to sign a “lucrative deal” with Trinity but beyond that Takairangi could be another ideal signing especially the way he has played in the World Cup.
