Three players to leave Widnes

Widnes have announced that Macgraff Leuluai, Jack Johnson and Liam Cooper will leave the club at the end of the season.

Long-serving Leuluai leaves after spending the past 10 years as a Viking, racking up 196 appearances and winning club honours including ‘Players’ Player of the Year’ and ‘Whack of the Year’. He will return home for family reasons.

Former Warrington outside back Johnson joined ahead of this season from Featherstone, having progressed through the academy at Warrington.

He impressed straight away, scoring five tries in seven games before the season was voided due to the Covid-19 suspension.

Ex-St Helens back rower Cooper leaves having yet to make his Widnes debut due to an ankle injury picked up at the start of the year.

In a statement on their website, the club said: “Widnes Vikings would like to wish MacGraff, Jack and Liam the very best in their future endeavours away from the club.

“We would also like to thank all three players for their efforts in Black and White throughout their time at the DCBL Stadium, both on and off the field.”
