Halifax have confirmed the departures of Jodie Broughton, Tommy Lee and Reece Chapman-Smith, taking the number of players to leave the club in recent weeks to nine.
The trio join Steve Tyrer, Dan Fleming, Scott Murrell, Tom Gilmore, Keegan Hirst and Paul Brearley in departing, as Simon Grix’s squad continues to undergo a huge overhaul ahead of next season.
Experienced pair Broughton and Lee had only joined the club ahead of this season but were limited to a handful of appearances due to the Covid-19 suspension.
‘Fax head coach Simon Grix said: “Tommy would have been a great addition I am sure for the 2020 season and fit in seamlessly in his short time with us. Unfortunately, circumstances have made this decision and we wish him all the best.
“Jodie was a very tough call but again, the circumstances mean we couldn’t get him in. He was great in a short period, showing a glimpse of what we signed him for. He is a great bloke and his experience, whether playing or in another capacity, will make him an asset to the game should he continue.
“Reece has been a pleasure to have at the club over the last couple of years. For a few reasons, some out of his control, it has meant that game time has been limited. And for him to further develop and enjoy his rugby, he needs to be playing regularly. He goes with our best wishes.”
