Three key players return for Castleford

Greg Eden England

Knowing a win or a draw against Wakefield on Thursday will win them the League Leaders Shield, Castleford head coach Daryl Powell has named a strong 19-man squad for the derby clash.

Top try scorer Greg Eden returns after recovering from a shoulder injury, while forwards Junior Moors and Andy Lynch also come back into the team.

Gadwin Springer, Joel Monaghan and Tom Holmes drop out of the squad with the Tigers looking to secure top spot in England’s top flight for the first time in their 91-year history.

A sell-out crowd is expected for the game at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle and speaking to the club’s website, Daryl Powell is looking forward to the match: “We are obviously in a great position and right in the middle of a Super 8’s competition that could turn into one of the biggest years in the club’s history. We are mindful of everything that is in front of us, and it is important that we keep our feet on the ground but it is also vital that we enjoy the challenges and experiences that are coming up on a weekly basis,”

Powell added: “There should be a big crowd in what is one of the best places to play Rugby League in the world on Thursday night and there is no doubt that the atmosphere will be one that the players of both teams will remember for a very long time to come.”
