Three clubs who could be Super League’s Arsenal in 2023

If it has somehow escaped your notice, Arsenal are top of the Premier League by a staggering eight points.

This has come out of nowhere. It was expected to be a two horse race between Manchester City and Liverpool and the same could be said of Super League as we sit a month away from the opening game with most seeing it as a battle between St Helens and Wigan Warriors for glory with Huddersfield Giants regarded as the dark horses.

So, which teams are best placed to upset the applecart at the top of the table and stun the league like Arsenal have done?

Hull FC
Like Arsenal, last season for Hull FC was defined by a demoralising derby day defeat. On paper Hull have everything that is needed to compete at the top of the league. They have a strong pack and strike players and with a brand new spine could truly shine in Super League next season especially under new boss Tony Smith.

Warrington Wolves
After finishing 11th last season, Warrington still have the star players who guided Warrington to five top four finishes in six seasons before 2022 as well as a brand new pack, the pack Daryl Powell wants. George Williams also is back to his best after the World Cup so the Wolves could storm to the top once again.

Leeds Rhinos
In many ways, Leeds are like Arsenal. A big club with a history of success but have been in a rebuilding phase recently. Both have young exciting coaches and young squads with plenty of development in them. As Arsenal have come of age, could 2023 see Leeds do the same?
