Leeds Rhinos interim boss Jamie Jones-Buchanan is currently counting the cost in terms of his troops.
It was revealed last night that Harry Newman will be out for 12 weeks after a hamstring problem recurred that needed surgery and Jones-Buchanan knows he will be a big miss.
“It’s a massive blow, Harry is the type of player you want to pull the Leeds Rhinos shirt on,” Jones-Bishop said.
“He’s absolutely the foundational character we want to come through the system, but I think he’s a victim of his own physical success with his fast muscle twitch fibres.
“The way i keep trying to focus on the positives, I wish he was in our side not just because he’s world class but what he brings culturally to this team.”
The Rhinos interim head coach also revealed David Fusitu’a’s problem.
“Fusitu’a had a knee problem, he’s not been at his best so he’s had a scan and had a meniscus tear.
“They’ve cleaned it up and that’s been put behind him now, but it shouldn’t be too long – about a month.
“He will be fit and healthy when he comes back.”
There will be a third player that will be out for a while too, with Corey Johnson now on crutches.
“He’s on crutches too he’s no good.
“It’s a shame because Brad Dwyer was out with suspension, but Corey is still recovering.
“I don’t think you will see him for a few weeks.”
