Theo Fages curiously left out of Huddersfield Giants side for Salford Red Devils clash

Last week, Huddersfield’s unbeaten start to the season ended in a gutsy display at Wigan.

Some may have even argued that the Giants might have won had star signing Theo Fages featured. The Frenchman missed that game through a one-match ban alongside Danny Levi who was guaranteed to sit out the Salford Red Devils clash as well with a two-match ban.

So, it was expected that Fages would return to the side for the game against his former club Salford having served his ban. It was assumed that we’d see him combine with both Tui Lolohea and Will Pryce for the first time which is a mouth watering prospect.

However, Fages has been left out of Huddersfield’s line up against Salford to the surprise of many with no reason as yet given for his absence.

It does mean the impressive Oliver Russel remains in the side after a strong start to the season. Interestingly, he’s also joined by Will Pryce in the halves as Watson shuffles his pack and returns Tui Lolohea to fullback.

Meanwhile, Adam O’Brien remains at hooker with Levi still suspended. It will be O’Brien’s 100th appearance for the club.

It remains to be seen whether this line up can inspire Huddersfield to a third win in the opening four games against Salford who have also left out one of their major signings in the shape of Tim Lafai. Deon Cross and Matt Costello subsequently feature at centre.
