The verdict on Jake Connor’s injury revealed as the Hull FC star set to miss start of season

Jake Connor will miss the start of the season after suffering a broken hand in Hull FC’s defeat to Leeds Rhinos in Tom Briscoe’s testimonial game.

Hull FC have already faced injury problems in pre-season with the likes of Scott Taylor and Kane Evans facing spells on the sidelines., whilst Ligi Sao, Josh Griffin and Andre Savelio missed yesterday’s clash due to precaution.

Connor was forced off early in the Black and Whites’ fixture against Leeds Rhinos and to make matters worse his replacement, Davy Litten, also had to leave the field.

Though, on both occasions, it isn’t as bad as first feared with Connor set to miss the opening rounds and Litten suffering from whiplash following a big hit by Leeds’ new signing David Fusitu’a.

“It doesn’t need surgery so it’s just a case of healing, I’ve been a pretty good healer in the past,” Connor told BBC Sport.

“I’m going to try to aim for that Saints game but, if not, definitely the week after.

“I had a similar break to the same hand and I ended up playing after three weeks.”

It leaves the door open for Jamie Shaul to cast his nest over the fullback spot after previously being forced out by Connor.
