The two Super League clubs who could be ready to pounce and bring in star NRL forward

Five NRL clubs are chasing star prop Marty Taupau who previously rejected a move to Super League with Leeds Rhinos previously interested.

This is according to the Sydney Morning Herald who also revealed that the situation with the salary cap down under is having an effect on the ability of clubs to sign players including Taupau.

A move for him is being delayed by the uncertainty of the salary cap following his Manly Sea Eagles debut.

This has opened the door for Super League clubs to make a move for the Rugby League World Cup Finalist.

This is because they can offer him stability and surety which is of course not what he has available to him in the NRL.

Subsequently, according to Rugby League Live Super League clubs are keeping tabs on the prop hoping to capitalise on his situation and lure him over to Europe.

But which clubs are best positioned to sign this high profile free agent?

They are most certainly Catalans Dragons and Leigh Leopards.

Serious About Rugby League understands that the Dragons are close to replacing Dylan Napa with former Salford Red Devils and Warrington Wolves prop Ben Murdoch-Masila, however no deal is ever sure until the club confirms as such.

Therefore, the Dragons could do a lot worse than considering a move for Taupau.

Even if they were to sign BMM, they would still have a quota spot clear for Taupau should they wish to bulk out their pack ahead of recruiting a centre of stand-off to replace either Drinkwater or Langi after only signing the versatile Adam Keirghan to fill the void left by these two and Dean Whare.

The other club is Leigh Leopards. Derek Beaumont said after they announced 10 new signings for 2023 that they were still keen on recruiting a middle and now they have further cap space and a quota spot following the departure of Nene MacDonald to Leeds Rhinos and Blake Ferguson leaving on compassionate grounds.

Thus, Taupau could be the perfect answer to their look for a middle forward.
