The two Super League clubs who are still set to make multiple major signings

The vast majority of Super League clubs have already concluded their transfer business ahead of the 2023 season.

Even the likes of Wakefield Trinity, after only making four signings for the new season despite the fact Serious About Rugby League understands their original plan was to make at least five ahead of 2023, have seemingly concluded their business ahead of their new era under Mark Applegarth.

But there is still one side set to make two major signings for the new season and that is the Catalans Dragons.

Based on Steve McNamara’s comments in L’Independant before Christmas in which he said the Dragons would unveil their 2023 squad in January but would still have two more additions to add.

Romain Navarrete, formerly of Wigan Warriors and Toulouse Olympique who has returned to the Dragons for 2023, has said there’s more to come on the Dragons’ YouTube Channel.

The Dragons are chasing a prop and have missed out on former Warrington Wolves and Salford Red Devils Ben Murdoch-Masila who is set to join St George Illawarra Dragons instead. This comes after the departure of Dylan Napa.

Meanwhile, the Dragons are also looking for a centre and have missed out on Featherstone Rovers star Joey Leilua.

This comes after they lost Samisoni Langi to Wakefield and Dean Whare. They may pivot away from this and ask Tyrone May to play in the centres if the Dragons look to sign a halfback to join Mitchell Pearce in the halves.

There is one more side expected to make one more signing and that is Leigh Leopards. Salford Red Devils could very well also make a move with a quota spot after Sitaleki Akauola left for Toulouse, but Leigh seem set to make another signing or indeed two.

It seems they will announce the signing of Wigan Warriors back Umyla Hanley at some stage as he trains at the club and would be a replacement for Leeds Rhinos bound Nene MacDonald and Blake Ferguson who left on compassionate grounds.

However, owner Derek Beaumont has been vocal about the club wanting to add a middle forward and they seemingly have a quota spot they could use to complete this signing and could move for Dylan Napa or another prop.
