The three signings top Super League club could make as owner confirms further business

Though most Super League clubs have completed their business for 2023, there are some clubs who are still set to make signings.

With one quota spot left, Salford Red Devils could still make a major signing whilst Leigh Leopards seem set to sign Wigan Warriors winger Umyla Hanley as well as being interested in adding a further middle.

But the club certain to make at least two more signings is the Catalans Dragons.

Steve McNamara confirmed before Christmas that he was interested in two more signings and one of the signings he has already made Romain Navarrete has echoed this.

Meanwhile, owner Bernard Guasch said to L’Independant:

“We have two quotas left and why not a French or an English player too. We come out of this World Cup affected physically and mentally. We sent eighteen of our players there. We have been the biggest provider of Super League by far. The players are chewed and it’s a difficult time for the coach and his assistants. It is important to give back this desire and hunger to the group. I expect a lot from the return of all the players, from January 2 and we will only have six weeks to prepare for the recovery.

“We want to sign one more centre and a prop. Alex Chan talks hard with all the agents every day to find the two recruits we are missing.”

But who could these signings be:

Prop – Ava Seumanufagai
Former Leeds Rhinos prop Ava Seumanufagai left Canterbury Bulldogs ahead of 2023 with Australian reports saying that the forward would be returning to Super League. With experience and definite ability, he would be a strong signing for the Dragons.

Centre – Steven Marsters
Marsters’ cousin Esan has already made the move to Super League with Huddersfield Giants and the Dragons have been widely rumoured to be bringing the Cook Islands man to Super League for 2023 as he looks for a new club.

Other – Tony Gigot
If you recall, Guasch suggested that further signings could be made in the shape of an Englishman or Frenchman and with former Catalans Dragons hero Gigot looking for a club after leaving Toulouse Olympique and he would be a brilliant signing to add depth to their squad.
