2023 has begun and the Super League season is just weeks away as the latest chapter of rugby league is written.

It is set to be an amazing season with some interesting stories already unfolding.

Jake Connor is back with Huddersfield Giants after six years with Hull FC who have welcomed Tony Smith to the club in 2023 after he left rivals Hull KR.

They themselves have a new coach in Willie Peters and have made some major signings. So have Warrington Wolves and Leigh Leopards after one fended off relegation whilst the other earned promotion.

It should be a fascinating season in 2023 but there has already been a discussion about changes that could happen to the rules that could make our great game and our even better competition even superior.

According to Rugby League Live today, the green card for injuries is to become a lot more prominent.

Meanwhile calls have been made that Super League should look to introduce the captain’s challenge though this seems unlikely with the inability to have video referees at every game.

However, speaking about the video referee, they could adopt the NRL’s approach to the video referee.

Yes, they referee certain tries direct to the bunker, but the video referee also reviews everything in the background even the things that was somewhat missed.

This would remove any major mistakes from key moments in the game and also ensure referees don’t feel obliged to check the small things knowing they will be checked anyway speeding up the game.
