A number of Super League clubs have already made transfer moves for 2024 like Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves and Hull KR.
Leeds have drafted in Mickael Goudemand from Catalans Dragons. This came after they missed out on Lachlan Fitzgibbon alongside three other clubs as the backrow chose to join Warrington Wolves from the Newcastle Knights.
This shows how clubs will move for NRL stars which is where Wigan have turned to in order to sign former Huddersfield Giants and Leeds star Kruise Leeming from Gold Coast Titans.
Meanwhile, a former Wigan man will leave the NRL for Hull KR alongside Peta Hiku.
This demonstrates how Super League clubs will look to the NRL for new faces and another target has emerged in Wests Tigers’ Alex Seyfarth.
The Wests Tigers backrow has reportedly told he can leave the club at the end of the year which will see him appear on the radar of a number of NRL clubs.
He has made 40 NRL appearances since his debut in 2020.
At 24 years old he would be a signing with huge potential. He stands at a massive 6 foot four so would be a very dangerous weapon as an edge backrow.
Could the Rhinos consider a move for him having missed out on Fitzgibbon?
One concern would be he has suffered from a serious MCL injury in the past.
But which clubs will consider a move for the backrow?
Leeds Rhinos
There are question marks over the future of Zane Tetevano and James Bentley both of whom have featured in the backrow for Leeds in 2023. Thus, the Rhinos could be keen on a backrow and look set to have at least two quota spots and one could go on Seyfarth.
Wigan Warriors
Wigan lost John Bateman prior to this season and Kai Pearce-Paul is also set for the exit door. Willie Isa and Liam Farrell aren’t getting any younger. A new backrow would be great.
Hull FC
With Josh Griffin joining Wakefield Trinity, it was suggested by Paul Cooke that the Black and Whites will have a big plan for the backrow role especially with Andre Savelio also facing an uncertain future. Seyfarth thus would be a very savvy signing.
