The Super League clubs who could sign NRL forward

Ali Lauiti’iti at Leeds Rhinos, Thomas Leuluai at Wigan Warriors, Ben Barba at St Helens or even Andrew Johns at Warrington Wolves, throughout Super League history we have seen some top signings from down under.

Some signings, like Johns or Willie Mason at Hull KR and Danny Buderus at Leeds Rhinos, come over with huge expectations.

Others arrive as unknowns but go on to develop into huge Super League stars like Adam Cuthbertson in 2015.

Even in recent years we have seen some brilliant NRL signings like Brodie Croft at Salford Red Devils or indeed this year with Jake Clifford at Hull FC.

Given the examples above, it is no surprise to see clubs continue to focus on more NRL signings.

Warrington have drafted in Lachlan Fitzgibbon from Newcastle Knights, Wigan have brought in former Leeds and Huddersfield Giants star Kruise Leeming and have been linked with Brenko Lee.

Meanwhile, Hull KR have signed Oliver Gildart and Peta Hiku for the new season and the NRL incomings won’t end there.

Another target has emerged in Tukimihia Simpkins. According to the Mole of Wide World of Sports the second row / prop has been told he can leave Wests Tigers and the huge prop who stands at six foot four and weighs 108 kg will therefore be on the radar of a number of clubs.

But which clubs will be interested in the forward?

Here’s three clubs we think could have a shot at bringing the Wests Tigers man to the UK in 2024.

Warrington Wolves
The Wolves lost two forwards this year and opened up two quota spots. The Wolves lost Thomas Mikaele to Gold Coast Titans after a very strong start to the season. Then they agreed the mutual termination of Josh McGuire’s contract after he received a mammoth suspension. They have been in the market for middles ever since and thus could move for Simpkins.

Leeds Rhinos
It has already been confirmed that Leeds will lose Sam Walters to Wigan Warriors and there are doubts over the future of Zane Tetevano. They have replaced one of the two with Mickael Goudemand but another forward is expected.

Hull FC
Tony Smith is beginning a rebuild of the Black and Whites but is set to lose a player he really wanted to keep in Chris Satae. Thus Simpkins would make a very smart signing.
