The Super League clubs who could complete sensational transfer

Plenty of stars from Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC and Leigh Leopards have been chased by NRL clubs.

Aidan Sezer and Blake Austin have been linked with NRL moves with their uncertain futures. Wigan meanwhile have lost Kai Pearce-Paul to Newcastle Knights and he will be joined by Will Pryce of the Huddersfield Giants.

Warrington Wolves meanwhile gave new deals to George Williams and Paul Vaughan to fend off NRL interest.

Hull FC weren’t able to do that with halfback Jake Clifford whilst Leigh Leopards will be hoping to keep Lachlan Lam and the same could be said of Brodie Croft and Salford Red Devils.

However, reports are now that one Super League star won’t be headed to the NRL.

May joined the Dragons last season after guiding Penrith Panthers to consecutive Grand Finals winning the 2021 decider having lost in 2020.

He went on to play for Samoa in the Rugby League World Cup but was forced off in game one against England with dislocated hip.

However, he has returned from injury in fine form at Catalans wearing the number six jersey and helping the Dragons to the Super League summit.

That said, his form has clearly sparked interest and NRL club Canterbury Bulldogs were interested in May for 2024.

Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks reported that the Bulldogs had offered him a multi-year deal.

The Bulldogs have signed a number of ex-Penrith players. They have secured Stephen Crichton for 2024 having already signed Matt Burton.

They have also signed from Super League recently in the shape of Hull FC halfback Josh Reynolds.

According to the Daily Telegraph earlier this year, the Bulldogs were interested in signing the versatile May for next season and beyond.

However, Rugby League Live have now reported this deal has collapsed and he is now available to other Super League clubs.

So which clubs could be interested?

Wigan Warriors
The Warriors are in the market for a new number six with Cade Cust out of contract and transitioning to the hooker role. Tyrone May would be a great addition and the Warriors have already shown they are willing to sign from the Dragons with Tiaki Chan signed and Adam Keighran is set to follow.

Leeds Rhinos
Like with Wigan, Leeds are interested in a halfback with Aidan Sezer reportedly set to return home and Blake Austin’s future uncertain. May therefore would be a smart signing.

Hull FC
Tyrone May has plenty of versatility and he would really suit the style of play being developed by Tony Smith at the club. He could also replace Jake Clifford.
