The rest of the season predicted: Where will your team finish?

Today, Wakefield claimed a shock win at the expense of title-chasing Warrington to inject new life into their season.

Their win is the final word of this weekend’s Super League action leaving us with six rounds of the season to go and everything to play for. There’s a hunt for top spot between the Champions and the Dragons whilst a number of sides are chasing the last two play-off spots. So, today we’re predicting how the rest of the season will unfold as we give you what we think the final table will look like after predicting every result.

When doing this we considered current form. We also ignored the postponed fixtures as at this moment in time there appears to be no obvious place for them in the schedule. That could change but if it doesn’t this is how we see the table shaping up:

Pos Team W D L %
1 Catalans 21 0 3 87.5
2 St Helens 17 0 4 81
3 Warrington 15 1 6 70.5
4 Wigan 16 0 9 64
5 Hull KR 12 0 8 60
6 Leeds 13 0 12 52
7 Castleford 11 0 12 47.8
8 Hull FC 9 1 11 45.2
9 Huddersfield 9 0 15 37.5
10 Wakefield 6 0 18 25
11 Salford 5 0 17 22.7
12 Leigh 1 0 21 4.5

Analysis:

Catalans will finish top, that’s my take. The Dragons have been outstanding so far this season and I can’t see them losing any more games. I think they’ll topple the Saints at the Magic Weekend in a huge game and that’ll be enough to secure the League Leaders’ Shield. As for the play-off spots, on Friday night Hull KR proved that they’re a play-off quality team and, with a favourable run-in, I believe they’ll secure fifth place. I fancy Leeds to join them but Castleford will run them mightily close. The Rhinos could very well struggle as they continue to deal with injuries. As for lower in the table, Wakefield perhaps turned a corner and I think they’ll finish the season strong as will Huddersfield. It won’t be enough for either side to come close to the top six, however. I’ve also tipped Leigh to claim at least one win having shown some positives in recent weeks.
