The reported difference in spending between Featherstone Rovers and Bradford Bulls

The race for promotion to Super League continues to increase in pace as Featherstone Rovers and Leigh Centurions go toe to toe for that elusive top flight spot.

Both Rovers and Leigh have recruited heavily in 2022 in a bid to beat the other to the title with the likes of Joey Leilua, Jesse Sene-Lefao, Blake Ferguson and Caleb Aekins all making big moves.

And, with both Featherstone and Leigh dispatching two potential rivals at the weekend – in Bradford Bulls and Halifax Panthers respectively – with ease, it has been revealed just how big the disparity is between those two at the top and the rest of the Championship.

“Bradford spend £350,000 on players, Featherstone spend over£1.1 and £1.2 million,” The Game Caller – a Bradford reporter – said on The Full Eighty Minutes podcast.

“Bradford have a small number of full-time players but any Bradford fan who seriously thought they would go there and win…Featherstone outenthused and outthought them.

“Matty Wildie controlled the ruck, he could take Featherstone to Super League, he is one of the most underrated players in the Championship.

“They are part-time players, they ran out of gas and the fact they were doubling up in four days it told on the scoreboard.”

There have also been claims that neither Leigh nor Featherstone have done spending for this season yet either!
