The reason for Blake Ferguson’s reported Leigh Leopards exit revealed by Australian publication

Blake Ferguson seems set to leave Leigh Leopards.
This comes from reports which started with Rugby League Live on Thursday and has been echoed by the Australian press in the days since.
Over the weekend, Zerotackle claimed that he would be making a return to the NRL in 2023 and up to seven clubs could potentially be interested in the former NRL winner.
However, today that has contradicted by the Daily Telegraph who claim a return to the NRL is unlikely, though not impossible, due to Ferguson not having the motivation to keep playing following his exit from the Super League club which has still not been confirmed by the Leopards themselves.
The publication has also shed further light on why Ferguson is set to leave the Leigh Leopards.
It had been initially reported that his exit was on compassionate grounds and down to home sickness.
However, the Daily Telegraph have reported that his release on compassionate grounds due to a health situation relating to a close family member of Ferguson’s.
His exit follows that of Nene MacDonald to Leeds Rhinos which would leave sizeable cap space and a quota spot for the Leopards to replace him.
However, it is not a situation anyone at the club would have wanted on the eve of their Super League return.
