Discipline is always a major issue for rugby league teams.
If you have good discipline, a game is often a breeze to work alongside referees and officials, whereas, to have bad discipline can be incredibly detrimental to the outcome of a fixture.
With the crackdown in Super League seemingly restored to a calm level from the beginning of the Super League season, it is a good idea to take stock of which sides are able to control their emotions to a greater degree than others.
A number of sides have a huge amount of yellow and red cards whilst others have shown to have had great discipline throughout the 2022 season.
Let’s start with the good.
Wigan Warriors have been awarded just three cards all season! That includes one red card and two yellows which is incredible considering at the other end, Castleford Tigers have been given two reds and 14 yellows!
Hull KR and Toulouse Olympique have been equally as disciplined with just four yellow cards as (previously) Tony Smith and Danny McGuire as well as Sylvain Houles have clearly worked their magic in that regard.
Wakefield Trinity are next with six yellows, whilst Huddersfield Giants aren’t too far behind with one red and six yellows.
That’s where there is a big jump to Warrington Wolves and the Salford Red Devils who both have ten yellows, but no reds though Hull FC have three reds and seven yellows.
Catalans Dragons have been given three reds and eight yellows with St Helens up next with one red and ten yellows.
But, far ahead are the Leeds Rhinos with three reds and 12 yellows, but Castleford have the title as the most ill-disciplined with their two reds and 14 yellows with Lee Radford hoping to stem that tide as we come into the final weeks of the regular Super League season.
