“The man” scores first Warrington try but has difficulties against Hull KR youngster – How social media reacted to Greg Inglis’ debut

Today, the famous Greg Inglis made his Super League debut as Warrington beat Hull KR 50-26. After weeks of hype, GI was finally ready to make a splash for the Wolves and did so with a try. But what did social media think of his performance?

The World Cup winner joined Warrington ahead of this season but having spent over a year out of the game retired he was given time to get up to speed inciting eventual excitement when his debut finally rolled around this weekend.

It wasn’t just the Warrington fans excited to see Inglis. The commentary team were also delighted to see the NRL winner make his Super League debut. Although some may have gotten a little bored of hearing about the Wolves centre.

Things didn’t get off to the best start for GI however.

Some fans used it as an opportunity to talk up Hull KR youngster Ethan Ryan who gave Inglis a torrid time at the start of the game.

He also drew comparisons with Wigan’s Liam Farrell.

He then got over the line for a first Super League try to a very mixed response.

It certainly gave him hero status amongst the Warrington fans.

Even a Hull KR fan was impressed.

Sadly the overriding response was disappointment. Not at his performance but because most fans weren’t able to watch it due to the fact it could only be watched on the OurLeague app by Warrington and Hull KR season ticket holders.
