The latest on the future of Parramatta Eels star Will Penisini

Parramatta Eels are set to offer one of their in-form players a new contract after impressing in pre-season and the opening round of the NRL so far.

19-year-old Will Penisini debuted in round 12 of the 2021 season and is almost at double figures for appearances for the Eels.

As such, the centre is set to be offered a new deal – for the long-term – according to News Corp’s Brent Read.

His current contract expires at the end of next season, but the Eels are not wasting any time and hope to tie him down to a new, lengthy contract before rivals can begin talking to him on November 1.

“Some good news for Parramatta fans. Will Penisini made his debut last year, I think he played Schoolboys footy with Joseph Suaalii and there’s big raps on him out in Parramatta,” Read told Triple M.

“They see him as a long-term centre and the so the club has actually started talks with him over a contract extension. He’s got one year to go and they want to keep him there long term.”
