Greg Eden has made a few big moves in his career but the biggest was perhaps his move to Brisbane Broncos.
It came when he still had years left on his contract at Hull KR and all started with a phone call.
He explained what happened on Fully Game:
“I’d been on loan at Salford because I must have been out of favour or on the piss or something but someone in Australia must have been keeping tabs on me and he’d seen that I’d moved clubs.
“The day after when he rung back with details about who wanted me and the kind of money so I followed it up with my agent at the time and it ended up being all legit.”
He had to request his release and there was some back and forth between him and the Robins.
Eden explained that Hull KR even offered him a better deal than the one he signed in the NRL:
“I had to ask Hull KR if I could have a release and they weren’t happy about it at first but they ended up finding a replacement so I went. Once I’d signed it all they ended up changing their mind and offering me a better deal to stay, better than what I’d signed in Oz, but I had my heart set on it then.”
