Leigh Leopards star’s future confirmed after talk of huge transfer

The future of Leigh Leopards star Ben Nakubuwai has seemingly been confirmed.

The Leigh prop joined the club in 2022 and helped guide them to promotion as well as three trophies before being a key member of their squad in 2023 as the club won the Challenge Cup and secured their play-off spot ever with a fifth-place finish.

However, as the club pursued the signing of Brisbane Broncos fullback Tristan Sailor, it was reported that Nakubuwai would be released.

However, he has now been included in their squad for 2024 though he has been demoted from number 14 to number 18 moving him outside the first choice 17.

Leopards head coach Adrian Lam said: “We’ve submitted our squad numbers for the 2024 and there’s no real surprises in there. Squad numbers aren’t really something anyone should read too much into.

“Just because someone is outside the first thirteen doesn’t mean they can’t have a huge impact on the squad this season.

“One of the biggest issues for us last season was having a small squad. This year we’ve grown the squad and because of that there are some bigger squad numbers.”

Lam has also added to his coaching staff lately with the arrival of Kane Daniels.
