The 2023 Super League season is officially less than a month away.

In fact, in a months time St Helens could be World Champions and we will have enjoyed Channel 4’s first game of the season between Hull KR and Wigan Warriors.

So, former St Helens and Huddersfield Giants prop Keith Mason has revealed the teams he thinks could be challenging for the title including his former side.

“Saints are going to be up there again because they have kept the team together, I think Catalans will be a force again,” he said.

“I think Warrington are going to do much better, they have to after last year, the only way is up for them but they’ve signed well.

“I’ve got to say Wigan as well. Leeds always come at the back end of the year, they’re not consistent but at the back end of the season they always seem to tear it up and peak at the right time.

“But I think Wigan, if Lukas [his son] breaks into the first team I will want them to win it.

“They’re my picks: Saints, Catalans, Warrington will be okay and Wigan.”

He feels his former club Saints have the culture to be front runners in 2023:

“I have to back Saints, as my old club, I love my old club, they’re run really well. I picked my heritage number up about two years ago and I came there and the people they had open arms to me. The culture of the club is fantastic.

“I think that is why they’re so successful, the culture of the club is fantastic.

“I didn’t have that at any other club that I played for other than Melbourne.”
