The Super League fixtures with the power to determine silverware, play-off places and relegation including two huge derbies

The biggest round of fixtures in any Super League season isn’t the opening round, isn’t the Magic Weekend or even Rivals Round: it is the last round as it has the power to determine so much.

Whether it’s been League Leaders’ Shield drama as in 2015 and 2016, deciding the final play-off spot like last year or even determining who will slip out of the league into the Championship like in 2006, the final round of fixtures can make or break a season.

In 2023, the final round of fixtures will be Round 27 and take place the weekend of Friday 22nd September, nearly a year on from the 2022 Super League Grand Final.

It could very well decide top spot, the play-off places and relegation.

In perhaps the biggest game of the round, Leeds Rhinos meet Castleford Tigers in a huge derby akin to 2022. Last season, the two met in a play-off for a play-off spot in Round 27 and it could very well be the same in 2023.

Interestingly, Huddersfield Giants meet Warrington Wolves in a game that could have similar repercussions should the Giants continue to impress under Ian Watson and should Warrington Wolves improve in 2023 as you’d expect following their recruitment.

Leigh’s fate, whether that’s fending off relegation or battling for the play-offs, will be decided in a derby against Wigan Warriors who at this stage will be backing themselves to dethrone St Helens at the Super League summit.

Speaking of the Saints, they may need a win at home to Hull FC to wrap up a second consecutive League Leaders’ Shield in Round 27.

Meanwhile, Wakefield Trinity – the bookies favourites for relegation – end their season at home against Hull KR in what could be a do or die clash.

Lastly, Salford Red Devils and Catalans Dragons will likely put their play-off hopes on the line in Round 27 as they collide.

It could be one of the most dramatic final rounds ever.
