The five best tactical kickers currently in Super League

A good kicking game is often key to winning trophies especially as a huge portion of Grand Final tries come from kicks with teams having such stern defences when they reach the Grand Final.

But who has the best kicking game in Super League?

Here is our top five:

5. Tui Lolohea – Huddersfield Giants
The Huddersfield fullback forced more goal line drop outs in Super League than any other. With a great attacking and short kicking game, he can cause teams problems and allow the Giants to mount pressure.

4. Harry Smith – Wigan Warriors
He may only be young but his kicking last year was very impressive and of course key to their Challenge Cup Final win over Huddersfield at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium last year.

3. Josh Drinkwater – Warrington Wolves
In 2021, Josh Drinkwater created an insane number of tries with kicks approaching 20 try assists from kicks as Catalans Dragons won the League Leaders’ Shield and reached an inaugural Grand Final. Now at Warrington, his kicking game will work nicely alongside George Williams.

2. Marc Sneyd – Salford Red Devils
The Salford Red Devils scrum-half is one of the best kickers in Super League and a great organiser and even earnt a call up to the England squad last year based on his performances for the club last year. But his success with them and Hull FC in the past including creating vital tries at Wembley underlines his mastery when kicking.

1. Jonny Lomax – St Helens
Perhaps Super League’s best player over the last half a decade, Lomax is a great organiser and has a great long and short kicking game. This has been key in making great tries that have been vital to St Helens’ recent success.
