The five best Super League signings going into 2023 including ex-Leeds Rhinos man

There have been some massive signings in the Betfred Super League going into 2023.

But who have been the best signings going into the new season?

Here’s our top five.

5 Josh McGuire – Warrington Wolves

There have been plenty of major forward signings such as Sam Lisone to Leeds Rhinos, Sam Stone to Salford Red Devils and Siosiua Taukeiaho to Catalans Dragons, but only Warrington have signed a World Cup winner in the shape of Josh McGuire who will bring some real experience to the Wolves.

4 Jake Clifford – Hull FC

All four of Hull FC’s new spine could have featured on this list but it was the last of Hull’s five signings Jake Clifford who was the best. This is because he unlocked the rest of Hull’s signings as he allows Tex Hoy to play his best position: fullback. He will also free up Jake Trueman.

3 Zak Hardaker – Leigh Leopards

Zak Hardaker played in the 2022 Grand Final for a Leeds Rhinos side who were second bottom when he joined the club mid season and that proves his quality. He is one of the best players Super League has seen for the last decade and the former Wigan Warriors man is a major signing for Leigh.

2 Ricky Leutele – Leigh Leopards

An outstanding centre with power and offloading ability, he is one of the best centres in the competition at present. He will give the newly promoted side great strike power.

1 Jake Connor – Huddersfield Giants

Huddersfield Giants forced the most goal line drop outs in 2022 and no side had more attacking sets than them. Though they still had the third best attack in the league, it still wasn’t enough to see them finish in the top two when their stats probably suggested they should have done so. Thus, Jake Connor and his ability to conjure something from nothing and compliment the brilliance of Tui Lolohea could be what takes the Giants the next step in 2023.
