The Dolphins identify major transfer target as Wayne Bennett hunts new blood

The Dolphins have been in the news ever since they were handed the 17th NRL license.

Since then, Wayne Bennett has come in as head coach and the likes of Felise Kaufusi and Kenny Bromwich have joined for 2023 and beyond.

But, one transfer target that has been identified as their number one aim is Melbourne Storm’s Jahrome Hughes – and they are not afraid to ruffle any feathers to get to him, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Dolphins’ recruitment chief Peter O’Sullivan signed Hughes as a youngster when he was coming through the ranks at the Sydney Roosters where he played S.G Ball.

O’Sullivan again tried to sign the halfback at the New Zealand Warriors – again to no avail – but he is determined to make it third time lucky at his new club in Redcliffe.

Whilst Newcastle Knights’ Kalyn Ponga and New Zealand Warriors’ Reece Walsh are names that continue to be banded about, the Dolphins want Hughes – and they are prepared to wait for however long it takes.
