Errors have killed Leeds Rhinos on more than one occasion this season.

Against Hull FC the Rhinos created enough top chances to win the game but bombed plenty of them and that was true in the defeat against Salford Red Devils last night.

James Bentley was judged to have knocked on over the line, after a break Harry Newman threw the ball into touch, Blake Austin meanwhile dropped the ball after a Richie Myler break in the second half and some of Leeds’ best attacking moments were undercut by forward passes.

Speaking after the game, Rohan Smith identified the errors that truly hurt the Rhinos last night:

“We had a short side opportunity, it was a forward pass and that one was probably correctly called.

“The crowd roared a lot for forward passes today I thought.

“The ones in the tackle today hurt us and we didn’t apply enough pressure to Salford who made their opportunities count.”

Smith gave a balanced assessment of his side’s defeat overall as well:

“It is a difficult one to process. We had a few rushes of blood defensively that hurt us but overall I thought we defended well.

“We played like a team in attack but overall didn’t maintain possession enough to fully go on with it.

“We were playing against an good team that find a way to scramble. A good game of footy I thought.”
